I wanted to do another star trails photo really badly last night. I checked the sky at dinner time and it was really cloudy. I was pretty bummed, but a few hours later the sky had cleared up tremendously.
I scouted startrails locations a few weeks ago, and I thought this tree would make for a good one. When I pulled up and got out of the car, I stood there in awe! I hadn't been there at night, and there were more stars in the sky than I have seen in a long time. After getting everything set up I literally did nothing but stare at the sky for over an hour.
I didnt realize it but the lens had built up a lot of condensation over the last 10 pictures. Due to this, my foreground exposure shot was ruined. Thank God the light from the cars passing by lit up the tree.
If you click on the photo and look closely there are little green lightning bug trails all around the grass and the top of the tree. At first I thought they would distract from the picture but I think they add something magical to the picture.
